Largo: Pedestrian Killed After Being Hit By Car

The Tampa Bay Times reports that a 49-year-old pedestrian was killed in Largo when he ran in front of a car around 9:55 p.m. Saturday.

David Francis Cooney, described by Largo Police as transient, died at the scene. Crossing East Bay Drive, Cooney was running northbound in front of traffic heading west, police said.

Police said he was struck by a 2006 Mercury Mountaineer. The driver of the Mountaineer is a minor and will not be named by TBO.com.

Witneses told police Cooney ran in the path of several vehicles before he was struck.

Police said no charges are expected.
