Jax Woman Gets Life For Mistaken Identity Slaying

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) _ A Jacksonville woman has been sentenced to life in prison for fatally shooting a man she thought had burglarized her home.

The Florida Times-Union reports that 38-year-old Karla Davis was sentenced Tuesday.

She was convicted in December of second-degree murder.

Prosecutors say Davis found her home burglarized in February 2014 and noticed two vehicles near the end of her street.

Thinking the vehicles were involved in the burglary, she opened fire and struck 22-year-old Ian Klinedinst in the head.

Police say Klinedinst was waiting in the car with his infant son and 2-year-old daughter for his fiance and a friend.

Davis was arrested four days later.
