Jax Man Gets 20 Years In Child’s Death

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) _ A man suspected of being involved in the death of a Florida toddler has pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter and other charges weeks after leading authorities to the child’s remains.

State Attorney Angela Corey said Friday that William Ruben Ebron Jr. got a plea deal after he led investigators to Lonzie Barton’s remains amid discarded tires in a wooded area in Jacksonville.

Under the deal, the 32-year-old Ebron will receive a 20-year prison sentence.

Ebron told investigators that he hid Lonzie’s body after the 2-year-old drowned in a bathtub.

Ebron said the boy was left unattended while he and the child’s mother had sex.
