INDIAN SHORES, Fla. (AP) — A man is dead after his vehicle rolled backwards over him.
Pinellas County Sheriff’s officials said in a news release that the 40-year-old man pulled into a parking spot Wednesday afternoon. Witnesses said the man appeared lost when he got out and walked to the rear of the vehicle. Suddenly, the vehicle began to roll backwards.
Deputies say the man tried to get back in the car but his left foot got caught by the front tire. The vehicle continued to roll, pulling him out and knocking him to the ground.
Witnesses used pieces of wood to try to lift the car off the man. Another person got a jack to try to help.
Suncoast Fire Rescue used a second jack to free them man.
He died at the scene.
