Kriseman Pitching Cuba For Consulate In St Pete

St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman and a group of city leaders are headed to Cuba today. They hope to entice Cuba to open a consulate in St. Petersburg.

Tampa and Miami are also being considered for a local consulate and Kriseman will be making a pitch to choose St. Pete over the other Florida locations. In light of the improving relations between the United States and Cuba, the mayor wants to introduce St. Pete to the people of Cuba and see how the city can benefit as well.

Mayor Kriseman and the delegation will be meeting with officials from the Cuban government, business and academic leaders. They will also meet with people representing Cuba’s art and culture community.
