Florida State Employee Dies In Magnet Accident

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida State officials say an employee died in a workplace accident at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, which is located on the university’s Tallahassee campus.

The school said in a news release that facilities staff member Glenn Nix died Wednesday morning while working on a magnet construction project. A second employee was treated for minor injuries. Officials say there is no ongoing safety risk to MagLab employees or the public. Grief counselors were on the
scene speaking with employees.

Officials cancelled a “Back to the Future” day event that was scheduled to take place at the MagLab Wednesday evening.

Florida State University Police were investigating the death.
