TAMARAC, Fla. (AP) _ Investigators have arrested a Lauderhill teenager accused of snatching an iPad from a 4-year-old boy as he watched cartoons while waiting for his mother at a beauty salon.
Multiple media outlets report that a 16-year-old boy was arrested Monday on charges of strong-arm robbery and violation of probation.
Surveillance footage from the Grace Salon in Tamarac on July 24 shows a male grabbing an iPad from a child seated by the front door. The robber then ran out of the salon.
Broward Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Dani Moschella said that tipsters called Broward Crime Stoppers to report the teenager as the robber seen in the video footage.
Authorities say the teenager was on probation and tried to run when detectives arrived at his home.
