Pot Included In FL “Right To Try” Bill

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Two Republican lawmakers will seek to expand a law that allows terminal ill patients to use experimental drugs to include non-smokeable marijuana of all strengths and doses.

Rep. Matt Gaetz of Fort Walton Beach announced Wednesday that he filed the bill. Sen. Rob Bradley of Fleming Island is expected to sponsor a similar bill in the Senate.

Gaetz says other states have had problems implementing medical marijuana laws and he wants to make sure patients benefit ahead of people seeking to profit off its use.

The Right to Try Act allows terminal patients to try any medicine that has passed phase one of a FDA clinical trial. Last year lawmakers rejected proposals to include marijuana in the law.
