“Jihadi John”, identified as Mohammed Emwazi, is a Kuwaiti-born British man in his mid-20s, who was previously known to British security services. He was born in Kuwait and comes from a middle-class family in London, where he grew up and graduated with a computer programming degree.
Emwazi first appeared in a video last August, when he apparently killed the US journalist James Foley and is thought to have appeared in others.
