Injuries To Clearwater Construction Worker

Clearwater Fire and Rescue extricated a man after a construction accident Tuesday. A call came in shortly after 11 a.m. about a 42-year-old construction worker whose leg had gotten trapped between a plate tamper and a 42-inch concrete pipe.

He was working in trench at Pierce Street and South Martin Luther King Junior Avenue.

Clearwater Fire and Rescue wedged wood pieces around the plate tamper and the pipe before they were able to free the patient with hydraulic rescue tools.

The construction worker, who is employed at Cypress Gulf Development Corporation in Tampa, was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries to his foot and lower leg.
