Infectious Diseases: Is Your State Prepared?

A new study from researchers at the Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) provides a state-by-state analysis of how well-prepared each is for an infectious outbreak. Based on 10 indicators of preparedness for infectious disease threats they found that Maryland, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Vermont and Virginia were the best prepared.

At the bottom of the list is Arkansas. That said, the report finds that no state is perfect. There are still gaps in preparedness for public health emergencies. What is at the heart of the problem? How does your state rank?
