There were some tense moments this morning on U.S. 301 a Big Bend Road in Riverview when the Hillsborough County SWAT vehicle caught fire.
Some of the two thousand rounds of ammunition stored in the truck went off, but were contained to the inside of the vehicle.
Authorities believe the blaze started in the truck’s generator.
All lanes of U.S. 301 in that area are back open.
The vehicle and two SWAT members were on their way to Shields Middle School in Ruskin for the Great American Teach-In when the fire happened.
