Firefighters Rescue Family Dog From House Fire

According to the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, crews responded to a house fire in Riverview at the corner of 3rd Street & Tucker Rd. The address is 11411 Tucker Rd. HCFR received multiple 911 calls from the neighborhood stating that this home had fire coming out of a window.

There were reports that home owners were not at home. Upon arrival, HCFR crews confirmed the report of heavy smoke and fire coming out of a window. Crews quickly deployed their hose lines and entered the home to fight the flames. While inside they performed a search and found heavy flames inside a large room. Firefighters extinguished the flames within minutes.

Additional fire rescue crews were performing a search when they encountered a family dog inside the structure. Firefighters rescued the dog and took him outside to a safe location. The dog was exposed to some smoke, but is in good condition.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Fire Investigator was called to the scene. The home suffered heavy fire damage to one area of the home and smoke damage to the rest. A total of seven people are displaced including a child. Red Cross was called to the scene and will be assisting the residents with shelter.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries to civilian or fire rescue personnel is reported.
