Health Alert: Confirmed Case Of Measles In Orlando

ORLANDO, Florida (AP) – The Orlando area has a confirmed case of measles.

Orange County health officials said Thursday that a British tourist was diagnosed with the highly-contagious illness.

The patient was exposed to measles in the United Kingdom before taking a trip to Florida.

Health officials say the patient visited numerous tourist attractions in central Florida last week.

They advise that anybody who develops a rash-like illness should seek medical care.

According to the Florida Department of Health, symptoms generally begin seven to 14 days after a person is exposed and include:

Blotchy rash
Fever
Cough
Runny nose
Red, watery eyes
Feeling run down, achy
Tiny white spots with bluish-white centers found inside the mouth
