Graduation Fireworks Injures Several

GLEN ST. MARY, Fla. (AP) _ Authorities say several people suffered minor injuries after wayward fireworks set off during a northeast Florida high school graduation detonated under the bleachers.

Baker County Emergency Services director David Richardson says the injuries were minor and treated at the scene.

The Macclenny Fire Rescue Department was in charge of lighting the fireworks display Friday night at the Baker County High School graduation ceremony.

Mike Wawzynski tells The Florida Times-Union (http://bit.ly/LjMWfZ ) that he was in the bleachers with other family members to see his son Keano graduate.

Wawzynski says one of the fireworks landed beneath their feet and exploded into green flares, shaking the group.

He says the fireworks were part of a student performance set to pop singer Katy Perry’s song “Fireworks.”
