Gang of robbers hits Tampa’s 7-11

TAMPA -Detectives say they’re trying to track down six men who teamed up to rob a 7-Eleven store in Tampa, leaving a neighborhood on edge Friday.

It happened at 5001 Memorial Highway around 2:20 a.m.

Six men entered the store and grabbed the clerk, forcing him to open the cash register, deputies say.

One of them then grabbed cash and cigarettes while the others remained on the lookout. The whole thing was caught on tape.

All of the men fled the area on foot, heading westbound on Memorial. They did not have any vehicles – at least from what the sheriff’s office can tell from surveillance footage.

However, deputies do have a description of two suspects who were near the counter.

The first is a Hispanic male 18 to 24 years old. He’s 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds with a muscular build. He was wearing a black cap with a white logo and was in an “Express” T-shirt. He had camouflage shorts, white tennis shoes and black gloves.

The second suspect is a black male 18 to 24 years old. He is 5-feet tall and 140 pounds with a thin build. Detectives say he, too, was in a black hat with a white logo. He had on tennis shoes and black gloves.

The other men were all dressed in black hats, white T-shirts and black gloves. You can see some of them in that video.

It doesn’t appear that the store clerk was injured, but an employee told FOX 13 Friday that it has left many in the area shaken up.

If you have any information on where these men might be, call the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at (813) 247-8200.
