Florida Woman Pleads Not Guilty to New Charge

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) — A Florida woman accused of orchestrating the killings of her millionaire husband and his mother has pleaded not guilty to a new charge that raises the stakes for her upcoming trial.

The New York trial has been set for April 16.

Narcy Novack of Fort Lauderdale entered the plea Wednesday in federal court.

A count of murder in aid of racketeering was added last month to the case against the 54-year-old Novack and her brother, 57-year-old Cristobal Veliz of Brooklyn.

Conviction would carry a mandatory sentence of life in prison.

Novack and Veliz are charged in the 2009 killings of Ben Novack Jr. in his suburban New York hotel room and Bernice Novack in her Fort Lauderdale home.

Ben Novack’s father built the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami Beach.
