FORMER NFL, FLORIDA STATE PLAYER DIES IN HOTEL

Former NFL and Florida State offensive tackle Todd Williams has been found dead in a Tampa Bay area hotel. The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies responded to the Sarasota Suites late Monday morning, just hours before Williams’ alma mater won a national championship. Sheriff’s spokesman Dave Bristow says they haven’t found anything suspicious.

FORMER TOP SWISS BANKER IN FLORIDA FEDERAL COURT IN TAX EVASION CASE

A former top executive with Swiss bank UBS AG pleaded not guilty to fraud conspiracy charges Tuesday in federal court in Fort Lauderdale. The charges against Raoul Weil stem from a broad tax evasion investigation. He was a fugitive until his arrest in October in Italy and was later extradited to the U.S.

PREGNANT WOMAN DIES FROM FLU

A pregnant central Florida woman has died from the flu and two others are on life support. Health department officials in Melbourne say the woman in her 30s died Sunday. She had refused the flu vaccine because she was pregnant.

2 PEDESTRIANS, DRIVER DIE IN CRASH IN SEBRING

A car struck and killed two pedestrians and injured two others in Sebring on Monday night. The vehicle then struck a concrete pole, killing the driver.

FLORIDA STATE WINS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Florida State came from behind Monday night to beat Auburn in the final BCS championship game in Pasadena. A last-minute touchdown gave the Seminoles a 34-31 victory.
