WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) _ A former top U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement official in South Florida is scheduled to plead guilty to federal child pornography charges.
Court records show that 51-year-old Anthony Mangione is set to enter the plea Friday in a West Palm Beach courtroom.
He was charged in September with using his home computer to receive and transmit images of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
Each of three counts carries a mandatory minimum five-year prison sentence.
It wasn’t immediately clear which charges Mangione would plead guilty to.
His attorney declined comment.
Mangione ran ICE’s South Florida operations from 2007 to 2011, including numerous child pornography investigations.
A 27-year veteran of the agency and its predecessors, he retired a few months after investigators searched his home and office computers in April 2011.
