First came the contaminated caramel apples that killed one person and made three dozen others sick enough to require hospitalization. Within two months, Blue Bell Creameries was pulling its products out of grocery store freezers after listeria was traced to its processing plants.

Now comes word of one botulism death and nearly two dozen hospitalizations after a church pot luck in Ohio. So, how can we protect ourselves from food that is supposed to nourish us? ABC’s Jim Ryan has talked with the experts and offers advice.
