USP Employee Killed In Forklift Accident

Pinellas Park, Florida — A man was killed in a forklift accident while on the job Tuesday afternoon, Pinellas Park Police say.

According to preliminary reports, 25-year-old Eric Joseph Kanganis of Tarpon Springs was a three-year employee of USP Structural Connectors and was working Tuesday when he got caught between a forklift and a coil.

The job site where the accident occurred was along the 11900 block of 62nd Street N. in Pinellas Park.

Police say he was using a forklift to release a steel banding from large rolls of steel material. While standing on the forklift, he cut through a steel band, and that released the steel rolls that were packed together.

One of the rolls slammed against him, “pinning him against the forklift and killing him instantly”, says the report.
