Soldiers say ‘thank you’ for free meal

FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. (AP) – Eleven soldiers from Fort Bragg, N.C., want to say “thank you” to whoever paid for their meal at a Florida Panhandle restaurant.

The soldiers stopped at Sonny’s BBQ restaurant in Fort Walton Beach on their last day of a two-week training mission last week. When they went to pay, they were told the check had already been taken care of.

Rose Lintz, whose husband Philip was in the group, emailed the Northwest Florida Daily News (http://bit.ly/11enZ2w ) about the kind act.

The soldiers say an older customer held the door open for them when they entered the restaurant.

The soldiers chatted with the man and his wife until they were all seated. The couple left first.

The waitress told them their meal had been paid for but wouldn’t say who paid.
