VALRICO, Fla. (AP) _ Deputies say a Tampa-area gang member is under arrest after he was involved in a hit-and-run crash with a car driven by the county sheriff’s wife.
A report said 22-year-old Raul de Alejandro crashed his 1995 Buick into the 2012 Dodge driven by Rhonda Gee after he had an altercation with the clerk at a nearby convenience store Thursday.
Gee, the 42-year-old wife of Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee, was taken to the hospital to be checked for head injuries.
Deputies say de Alejandro was arrested when his car broke down after the crash in the Tampa suburb of Valrico.
The sheriff’s office says he’s a member of the “Dover Locos” gang.
He faces a variety of charges.
