A man who was recently fired as a security guard at a St. Petersburg motel shot the night clerk this morning before fleeing and turning the gun on himself, police say.
St. Petersburg police say Anthony G. Taylor, 45, was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound a short distance from the New Plaza Motel, 400 34th St. N., where he had shot motel night clerk Jerome Horacek several times a few minutes earlier.
Police say Taylor was a former security officer who had been recently fired and served an eviction notice from the motel two months ago.
