Ross Votes to Find Resolution to the Government Shutdown

WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Dennis Ross (FL-15) issued the below statement after voting in support of H.R. 3273, the Deficit Reduction and Economic Working Group Act. This bill will create a bipartisan group of House and Senate lawmakers who will work to come to an agreement on government funding and the debt limit increase.

“I am not a fan of delegating my authority as a Member of Congress to a small group of people. But if this is what it takes to get the Senate to come to the table, then so be it. All other measures have failed. It’s absurd that we have to pass a law to get the Senate to negotiate. We need the Senate to join us at the table.

“I have never voted for a shutdown. So many of our constituents are hurting – let’s work something out.”
