Rollover Vehicle Crash in Front of St. Pete/Clw Airport

At 3:00P.M. yesterday there was a rollover vehicle crash in front of the St.Petersburg/Clearwater Airport that tied up traffic for approx. 1 hour.

The crash involved a 2003 Jeep and a large delivery type truck. The delivery truck driver was not injured.

East bound traffic on Roosevelt Blvd. was rerouted around the airport.

Pinellas Park Fire Department extricated the driver of the Jeep with assistance from Airport Fire Dept. and Largo Fire Department in approx. 20 minutes.

Theextrication was quite involved due to the injuries the driver suffered.

The extrication is a systematic process that involves tools such as TNT brand cutters and spreaders that greatly assist the firefighters in removing a victim from a vehicle.

The driver of the Jeep was transported to local hospital for further treatment but paramedics stated the injuries were not life threatening.
