Pinellas Bayway Bridge To Be Temporarily Closed

Clearwater, Florida — The eastbound travel lanes on the Pinellas Bayway Bridge will be closed on Thursday, June 13.

The closure will last between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., in order to continue the removal of the low level bridge. Approximately 30% of the old bridge has already been removed.

The removal of the two drawbridge foundations will require a minimal underwater explosive detonation. Local residents will hear a loud boom, however there will be virtually no visual impacts since the detonation will occur underwater.

During the explosion, all traffic including pedestrians will be stopped.

Vehicles will be detoured to the Corey Causeway.
