North Port Teen Shoots at Police

There was a gunfight  between a 17 year old and North Port Police officers early Sunday morning.

According to the North Port Police Department, officers were called to the scene of a rowdy party where gunshots were being fired at 3:30 a.m. in the 2600 block of Roxbury Circle.

Police say they found 17-year-old LeRon C. Hagins standing on the sidewalk refusing to put his hands up when the officers asked him to, he then shot at two officers, including Sgt. Eric Stender, who returned fire.

No one was injured during the gunshot exchange.

Police say Hagins then ran from the scene but found him a short time later where he was arrested.

LeRon Hagins now faces two counts of attempted murder on a police officer.
