North Florida Skeet Shooter Dies From Injuries

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a man who was shot in the abdomen while skeet shooting outside a north Florida church has died.

Alachua Sheriff’s Office spokesman Todd Kelly says 36-year-old Robert Matthew Judah died Tuesday while undergoing follow-up surgery. He had been in the hospital since Oct. 21 when a man fired his gun in an attempt to get Judah and other skeet shooters to stop.

The Gainesville Sun reports that the men were shooting outside Forest Grove Baptist Church when Judah was hit. Officials say 71-year-old Patrick Allan McCall fired his gun from his home across the street from the church.

Officials say McCall was arrested following a brief standoff. He was charged with committing a felony that could cause death. There was no word on additional charges.
