Man Sentenced For Visa Fraud And Conspiracy

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — A Georgia man has been sentenced to 40 months in federal prison for visa fraud and conspiracy.

Ravinder Reddy Allala was sentenced Tuesday. Federal authorities say the information technology company Allala operated submitted at least 147 false H1B visa applications for Indian nationals between 2006 and 2010.

The H1B Visa Program allows U.S. employers to temporarily employ foreign workers in specialty occupations, which cannot be filled by a U.S. citizen.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Allala submitted many of these false visa applications under a fake name.
