Man Killed While Working On Stalled Car

OCALA, Fla. (AP) — The Florida Highway Patrol says a driver who veered onto the shoulder of Interstate 75 because of a “medical incident” struck and killed a man who was working on his stalled car.

Troopers say 57-year-old Harry Benjamin Young Jr. died at the scene Thursday. He had been working on the engine of his 1975 Volkswagen near the State Road 200 exit when the vehicle struck him from behind.

According to an FHP report, 56-year-old Ernest Ray Pinkard suffered minor injuries when his Silverado struck Young’s vehicle. Troopers say he was taken to an Ocala hospital.
