Major meth bust in Polk County

LAKELAND- It started as a routine traffic stop. It ended with so much more.

Polk County detectives say they uncovered more than 110 pounds of meth after stopping two men in a white Jeep Grand Cherokee on U.S. Highway 27.

In total, deputies say, the stash is worth $5 million to $10 million. Sheriff Grady Judd said detectives believe it may have come from Mexico.

Detectives said the driver, 21-year-old Scott Eargood, has a suspended license, so they searched the vehicle. They found $3,400 in cash, as well as .5 pound of methamphetamine.
