Deputy Foils Suspect’s Attempt to Use Fake ID

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ An alert Hillsborough County Jail deputy foiled a suspect’s attempt at using a fake name after his arrest on petty theft charges.

Authorities say the deputy recognized 23-year-old Arturo Zertuche from a Crime Stoppers website while he was being booked into jail Monday.

Turns out Zertuche was wanted on attempted murder charges.

The Tampa Bay Times (http://bit.ly/K9ZgRS ) reports Zertuche is suspected of pointing a gun at a man’s head during a 2009 fight.

The victim says Zertuche shot him in the back as he tried to get away.

He remains in jail on multiple charges including two counts of first-degree attempted murder. No attorney is listed on jail records.
