Cops: Boy, 11, Tried To Set Gulf Middle Student On Fire

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say an 11-year-old boy cornered another boy in the bathroom of a Tampa Bay area middle school and tried to set him on fire.

The Tampa Bay Times (http://bit.ly/xE3VE0) on Tuesday reported the boy aimed a can of Old Spice body spray at the boy and lit the stream. The incident happened Feb. 3 at Gulf Middle School in New Port Richey.

New Port Richey police say the victim was trapped in the bathroom stall and could not escape the flames. According to police reports, he was not seriously injured but his pants briefly caught on fire and the hair on his arm was singed.

Police say the boy was arrested and charged with aggravated battery. He was taken into juvenile custody.
