Condo Officers Get Prison For Theft

ESTERO, Fla. (AP) — Two former officers of a southwest Florida condo association are going to prison for embezzling more than $290,000 from fellow residents.

Charles Bennett and Ken Marmick were members of the board for Lovers Key Condominium in Estero. Both pleaded guilty Monday to stealing the money from one of the condo association accounts.

Prosecutors in Fort Myers said Bennett was sentenced to 2½ years in prison and Marmick was sentenced to two years. Both will serve years of probation after they get out of prison.

Bennett was president of the board and Marmick was vice president at the time of the theft. The state attorney’s office began the investigation in 2009.
