Coast Guard Rescue Four Fishermen

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) _ The U.S. Coast Guard rescued four fishermen who had jumped into a life raft after their boat caught fire.

Coast Guard officials say a good Samaritan reported the fire aboard the 79-foot Ingrid Louis commercial fishing vessel around 4 a.m. Monday.

The boat was about three miles east of Nassau Sound off Big Talbot Island State Park near Jacksonville.

The Florida Times-Union (http://bit.ly/M2Bgii ) reports the Coast Guard established contact with the men and told them to activate their Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon so responders could pinpoint their location.

The crew abandoned the ship and waited in the life boat.

A 45-foot cutter from Station Mayport arrived and brought the men to land.

The captain was treated for smoke inhalation. The other men declined medical treatment.
