Lashawnda George was sleeping at her home in the 1100 block of Tangerine Street when she woke up to crackling and an orange glow on the ceiling of her bedroom around 2:00 this morning.
It took her a minute to understand what was happening but then she ran to the back of her home and grabbed her 2-year-old daughter.
George had to bust out the bedroom window to escape.
A neighbor called 911.
George said she lost everything in the fire, but is thankful she and her daughter made it out safely.
It took firefighters about 10 minutes to put out the blaze.
George is staying with family and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
