A Clearwater man died late Saturday when his speeding car flipped and struck a utility pole on U.S. 19, Largo police said.
John J. Taborda, 31, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Impala north on a frontage road just north of Roosevelt Boulevard about 11:30 p.m., police said.
Taborda was going at a high rate of speed and lost control of the car, which hit a pole on the east side of the road, police said.
Taborda died at the scene. He was the only person in the car, police said.
