Car Stolen with Baby Asleep in Backseat

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) _ Police say they’re looking for a man who stole a car, but abandoned it after realizing a baby was asleep in the backseat.

The baby’s parents _ 21-year-old Jessyca Broom and 23-year-old Brandon Duff _ decided to leave their 1-year-old daughter sleeping in the car Tuesday night while they met the landlord of a house they wanted to rent.

Police say while they were inside the home, they heard engine revving.

The Tampa Bay Times (http://bit.ly/MorAgf ) reports the couple saw a man speeding off in their car.

They tried to follow in the landlord’s van and eventually flagged down a police officer.

Police found the car abandoned about 45 minutes later, with Italia still sleeping inside.

The only thing missing was her mother’s iPhone.

They’ve decided against renting the home.
