Bradenton Man Kills Wife with Baseball Bat

A Bradenton man is accused of killing his wife with a baseball bat while she slept.

Nicholas Hartmann, 39, is charged with murder in connection with the death of his wife, 38-year-old Alisa Hartmann.

The couple has two boys, ages 8 and 15.

According to police, they were called to the couple’s home on Harvard Avenue shortly before noon Tuesday to investigate a report of a suspicious death.

Detectives say a friend had stopped by to drop off her child for Mrs. Hartmann to watch and found her body in the bedroom.

According to the arrest affidavit, Hartmann killed his wife and went to work at a near by Home Depot like nothing happened.

During the initial investigation, Hartmann then arrived at the house and made statements regarding his wife’s death, according to the report.

The report states Hartmann “drove up to the scene at a high rate of speed, and jumped out of his vehicle with a beer in hand. He stated, I did it. I want to die. Kill me now.”

Hartmann told deputies he struck his wife in the back of the head and that he has a bad drinking and drug addiction.
