Boy, 6, Injured in Central Florida Duplex Fire

DELTONA, Fla. (AP) — Fire department officials say a 6-year-old boy was burned when a fire broke out in a central Florida duplex.

Deltona Fire Department officials say the fire started around 2 a.m. Tuesday. When firefighters arrived at the home, the fire was burning through the roof of both sides of the duplex. They helped seven people inside the duplex get out, but the boy was severely burned.

Orlando television station WFTV (http://bit.ly/qy9JW6 ) reports the boy had second-degree burns on his back, shoulders and ear. He was airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando.

The state Fire Marshal’s Office will investigate.
