CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) — A 9-month-old Tampa Bay area girl who authorities say was repeatedly dropped by her mother’s boyfriend has died.
Clearwater police say Aaliyah Siler died Wednesday afternoon at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa.
Authorities say 22-year-old Joseph Kenneth Oliver Jr. was babysitting the little girl Tuesday when he intentionally dropped her face-first onto his bathroom’s tile floor. Oliver told detectives he dropped the child at least two times out of frustration because she was crying.
Oliver was initially charged with aggravated child abuse, but police say the charge was elevated to first-degree murder after the girl’s death.
