Alex Sink Will Not Run For Florida Governor Again In 2014

AlexSink_2013TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Former Florida Chief Financial Officer and 2010 Democratic nominee for governor Alex Sink won’t run for governor again in 2014.

Sink made the announcement Friday in an interview with The Associated Press.

It means former Republican Gov. Charlie Crist won’t have strong competition when he enters the race for his old job as a Democrat. He is expected to make an announcement this fall.

Sink narrowly lost to Republican Rick Scott in a year where Republicans dominated elsewhere on the ballot.

Sink was the former president of Bank of America’s Florida operations when she ran for CFO in 2006. It was her first run for public office. She now runs the Florida Next Foundation, which seeks to help young entrepreneurs grow their startup companies.
