Derek Medina, the South Miami man who fatally shot his wife and posted a photo of her dead body on Facebook, will appear in court Tuesday for a bail hearing.
Tuesday’s hearing is expected to be an all-day affair as prosecutors try and persuade Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Yvonne Colodny to keep Medina jailed while awaiting trial on a second-degree murder charge.
Medina, 31, is charged with killing wife Jennifer Alfonso, 27, in August after an argument in the kitchen of their South Miami townhome.
Police say he shot and killed the unarmed woman, then uploaded the photo on the social media website.
“I’m going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife. Love you guys. Miss you guys. Take care. Facebook people you’ll see me in the news,” he wrote, claiming he was tired of Alfonso’s physical abuse.
