700 Cats Won’t Be Going Home

A judge has ruled that a Florida man cannot care for nearly 700 cats removed from his cat sanctuary while he faces multiple animal cruelty charges.

Judge Gregory Parker ruled Friday that the cats seized in February from the Caboodle Ranch in Lee will remain in the custody of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Jacksonville will care for the cats until Craig Grant stands trial in August.

The ASPCA told the judge the cats were found in “dire conditions” and continue to need medical care.

Grant went to court in May seeking custody of the cats.

His attorney tells The Florida Times-Union (http://bit.ly/NMz5SR ) that they will consider an appeal as they prepare for trial.
