Florida Man Accused Of Manslaughter In Fatal Red-Light Crash

PHOENIX — A Florida man is accused of running a red light in an SUV that had its lights off, killing another driver in a collision at a Phoenix freeway underpass.

Phoenix police said 27-year-old Dustin Michael Sommerfield of Pensacola, Florida, was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after the Sunday evening collision in which 48-year-old Constance Swenson was killed.

Sommerfield appeared in court Monday and was ordered held in lieu of $500,000 bail. Online court records did not list an attorney for Sommerfield.

Police said the collision occurred after Sommerfield allegedly pointed a gun at another driver and was pursued by officers who tried unsuccessfully to stop the SUV.
