Fatal Hit and Run Driver Posts Bail

The man accused of driving away from a fatal hit-and-run, crashing his 2003 Hummer H2 into two vehicles Sunday night, killing a woman and then going to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino posted bail this morning and was released from a Hillsborough County jail.

Henry Michael Tippins, 28, of Riverview, who suffered minor injures in the crash, posted the $250,000 bond and was released at 1:40 a.m. today after being charged with driving under the influence-manslaughter and leaving the scene of a crash with death.

Linda Diane Fessell, 64, of Plant City, died after the crash, which occurred at 8:22 p.m. Sunday at Hillsborough Avenue and 56th Street.  Troopers said Tippins drove his Hummer through a red light, and the hit the driver’s side of Fessell’s 2000 Honda CRA, he then also struck a 2000 Toyota Camry and a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant.

Camry driver Consuelo M. Cassagne, 55, of Tampa, was seriously injured, as was Mitsubishi driver Felicia Rhodes, 35, of Tampa. Cassagne was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital. Rhodes was taken to Tampa General Hospital.
