State officials have quietly been exploring the idea of leasing 6,630 acres of the Myakka River State Park for cattle grazing, but some residents and environmentalists are questioning the idea. The park was previously a cattle ranch. Critics contend cattle aren’t compatible with being a tourist draw and a wildlife habitat.
