Enterovirus Sickening Hundreds of Children

A respiratory illness is sweeping through parts of the U.S., sickening hundreds of children, according to local doctors. The disease hasn’t been officially identified but officials suspect a rare respiratory virus called “human enterovirus 68.”

As of Sunday, ten states around the country were conducting investigations into possible enterovirus cases. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the virus is related to the rhinovirus, which causes the human cold.
