Duke Energy Asks Customers To Limit Electricity Use

Duke Energy is asking its customers to limit how much electricity they use for the next 24 hours.

“Utilities up and down the East Coast and in the Midwest are experiencing very, very tight power demand,” Tom Williams of Duke Energy said, via WSOC-TV. “We’re encouraging folks to voluntarily reduce their thermostat, reduce their lighting needs, hold off on using the dishwasher or washing machine and dryer.”

Williams says the company is already using all their available units and expects to do so for the next few days. If the company’s demand overcomes the supply, they will be forced to cut people’s power at certain times.
